In this recipe, we will use a sliced vegetable instead of bacon!
Here are all the ingredients you'll need
The ingredients for this bacon-wrapped (veg) green bean recipe are very simple and mostly available in any supermarket
- 300g grean beans
- 3-4 slices vegetable charcuterie
Tip: As mentioned above we will use a vegetable substitute for bacon. To do this, I recommend that you choose a fairly dark vegetable sliced (such as veg bresaola, veg ham/cooked ham, etc.) , with the "springy" texture and a matte effect. So avoid "pinkish and shiny" vegetable slices that you often find in supermarkets in Switzerland or Austria. - 1 knob vegetable butter
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Preparation (step-by-step)
1. Wash and clean the green beans
Wash the green beans under running water, then cut off the two tips at the end using a knife. The tips should be removed because they remain tough and woody and are unappealing.
2. Cook the green beans
Drop green beans into a pot with water and bring to a boil. Cook the green beans for 15 to 20 minutes or until they are cooked through. Let cool for a few moments
3. Wrap your green beans with sliced veg.
While you let the green beans cool, cut your sliced veggie slices into 2-3 cm strips. Take 4-5 green beans, lay them horizontally on a vertically oriented strip of vegan sliced bacon. Roll up tightly making sure the green beans are tightly wrapped in the veg bacon.
4. Brown the green bean rolls.
In a nonstick skillet, melt some vegetable butter. Once melted squeeze in some garlic and let it brown for a few moments. Then add all your rolls and brown for another 5-7 minutes on both sides. non-stick pan Melt some vegetable butter. Once melted squeeze in some garlic and let it brown for a few moments. Then add all your rolls and brown for another 5-7 minutes on both sides.
There you go! Your pan-fried green bean and speck (veg) rolls are ready to be enjoyed as a first course or as a side dish for main courses.
Now that you have all the information to prepare this recipe, all you have to do is get to work. Have fun in the kitchen!
