Homemade crispbread, quick and easy recipe
Today I present a quick and easy method to make your own homemade crusty bread. Homemade crusty bread is one of those things that brings me great joy. I have always found it fascinating that a food as common and well-known as bread can be created with just a few ingredients.
How many times do we happen to be at home and suddenly feel like we want to bread. During the pandemic, we all became bakers. Since the pace of life has returned to normal, our time is definitely reduced.
Therefore, today I am happy to share this quick and easy recipe for fresh, crispy homemade bread. You will only need 4 simple ingredients for this bread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
How many hours should homemade bread rise?
You want to make homemade bread but you don't know how much time you will need for the leavening? Unfortunately, there is no single answer since it depends on the yeast and the preparation you have to perform. However, there are a few tricks that apply to all bread recipes. First, you will have to make sure that your bread rises at a temperature of 25°C (50°F). This means you can put it to rise in a bowl near the heater or in the oven with the light on. Since bread needs 80 percent humidity you will need to cover it with a clean kitchen cloth moistened with warm water.
So we understood that The factors that influence the rising of bread are many, and usually the required duration ranges from 3 to 8-9 hours if you use a sourdough starter. With this recipe for homemade crusty bread you can cut the rising time in half to just 90 minutes.

Homemade crispbread
Ingredients
- 300 g 10.58 oz all purpose flour
- 200 ml water
- 5-7 g 0.25 oz dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- as needed salt
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in 30-50ml (1 fl oz) of water (taken from total water)
- Put the flour in a large bowl and make a hole in the middle.
- Put the yeast in the center of the flour and start kneading gently with the help of a wooden spoon.
- Add the water slowly, always mixing with the ladle. Then add the salt.
- Stop when you get a smooth but still very wet mixture (if too dry, add water).
- Cover the surface of the dough with plenty of flour. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let rise for at least 90 minutes.
- Place the dough on a floured baking sheet making sure to leave the floured surface facing upward.
- Cut the dough in half, trying to give it a nice shape but touching it as little as possible.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 230°C (450 °F) for 30 minutes.
