Sugar-free strawberry jam: 3 ingredients
Today I will show you a really simple recipe for preparing a strawberry jam with Chia seeds sugar-free. May for me is a month full of colours and strawberries are definitely part of it. After seeing Benedetta Rossi and Giallozafferano's strawberry recipes, I couldn't help but recreate my own completely sugar-free version. Why you will love this strawberry jam
- Quick to make: this jam is very simple and quick to make. You only need a few minutes for cooking and a little patience for the cooling time.
- Sugar-free: this strawberry jam is sugar-free as the sweetness of the strawberries is sufficient. You will therefore obtain a light strawberry jam!
However, if you want to obtain a sweeter jam, you can add a few teaspoons of sugar. - No gelatine: this recipe does not use animal or vegetable gelatine to thicken the jam. In fact, the jelly is formed from chia seeds.
- It will give you so much satisfaction: there is no greater satisfaction than bringing to the table a homemade food that is usually bought at the supermarket.
Why use chia seeds for this sugar-free jam?
Have you ever heard of superfoods? If the answer is no, today I will tell you about the Chia seedswhich, as you might guess, fall right into the category of superfoods. There are many vegan recipes with chia seeds and this is one of them.
Chia seeds come from the Salvia hispanica, a plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family like sage, basil, oregano, mint. Chia seeds are classified as superfoods due to the large amount of Omega3 they contain.
Strawberry properties and benefits
Strawberries contain a large amount of water; in fact, they are composed of 90% water. They are therefore classified as a low-calorie fruit. In addition, strawberries can have benefits on our health. In fact, this spring fruit is rich in Vitamin C and minerals such as magnesium and potassium.
All the ingredients you will need
Here are the ingredients for your shopping list:
- 700 g washed strawberries roughly cut
- 50 g chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon agave syrup (optional)
Storage tips
Since our sugar-free strawberry jam does not benefit from the preservation provided by sugar. You can therefore store your chia seed jam for 4 days in a glass jar kept in the fridge.

Sugar-free strawberry jam with chia seeds
Equipment
- 1 saucepan
- 1 ladle
- 1 glass jar with lid
Ingredients
- 700 g 24.69 oz washed strawberries roughly chopped
- 50 g Chia seeds
- 1 Tbsp Agave syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries and chop them coarsely. If you prefer jam without too many pieces of fruit, you can also blend your strawberries.
- Put the strawberries in a pot and let them cook over medium-high heat.
- When you see the strawberries begin to soften, mash them well with the help of a potato masher. let them cook for a few more minutes.
- Once a smooth, liquid consistency is reached, remove the pot from the heat and add the chia seeds.
- Let it sit for at least 2-3 hours so that the chia seeds can activate and create the jelly-like effect of the jam we seek.
- After the 3 hours have passed, put the jam into two jars and store them in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
Notes
- I used no sugar for this jam but the recipe also lends itself to larger amounts of sugar
