Today I am going to teach you a foolproof method with which you will always get soft and fluffy basmati rice cooked to perfection. This technique is called 'cooking by absorption', and consists of using the correct amounts of rice and water so that the rice grains absorb all the water. Plain rice is a perfect side dish, for example you can use it to accompany <a href=\"https:\/\/luvvelovesfood.com\/en\/spiedini-vegetariani-di-tofu\/\">tofu skewers<\/a> or some <a href=\"https:\/\/luvvelovesfood.com\/en\/mushrooms-stuffed-with-vegan-ricotta-cheese\/\">stuffed mushrooms<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why wash rice before cooking it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It is essential that rice is ALWAYS washed before being cooked and consumed. This applies to all types of rice that are not used for risotto. Here are some reasons why you should always wash rice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">You will be able to remove heavy metals and pollutants, as well as dirt that is deposited there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Reduce the presence of starch, which is the substance that gives a doughy consistency that we want to avoid at all costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Doing so will also improve the taste, texture and flavour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to wash basmati rice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Washing basmati rice is very simple. Just follow these simple steps and equip yourself with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.ch\/search?sca_esv=575755605&amp;q=colino&amp;tbm=isch&amp;source=lnms&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjVtL7zhoyCAxUjVfEDHYJ4A14Q0pQJegQIDRAB&amp;biw=980&amp;bih=870&amp;dpr=1.8\">colander<\/a> (if you have one) and a bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">If you have a strainer, put the rice in it, place it on the sides of the bowl and fill the bowl with water until the rice is submerged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Rub and turn the rice with one hand. It will only take a few minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">In the meantime, wrap the lid of the pan in alu\/tin foil. Using foil will increase the heat and intensify absorption. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Now turn the heat down to low and cover the pot with the lid wrapped with alu\/tin foil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Set a timer for exactly 10 minutes.
